BOTH GIVEAWAYS ARE OPEN TO ALL READERS!
UPDATE: JK, (who shared over e-mail) you won the book and the prayer rope! Lori Knarr, you won the other prayer rope and the laminated icon of Panagia Paramythia. Please e-mail me with your mailing addresses. Thanks to all who shared the link!
I am offering one free copy of The Scent of Holiness: Lessons from a Women’s Monastery to one reader. Since I learned to tie prayer ropes on my first trip to the monastery, and since the book is broken up into 33 Knots in lieu of chapters in honour of the prayer rope, I thought it would be nice to also include one 33 knot prayer rope made by yours truly. (The yarn of which was blessed on the holy skull of St. Raphael of Mytilene when his relics were brought to our parish church in Thessaloniki in 2011).
In fact, to make it more blessed, we’ll do two giveaways: the first winner will receive a free copy of the book with a 33 knot prayer rope and the second winner will receive a 33 knot prayer rope and a laminated paper icon of Panagia Paramythia.
So, here’s what you have to do: Send or share the link to this post with one or more persons (e-mail, facebook, twitter, whatever) and leave a comment telling me you would like to be entered into the draw. For those of you who do not have a wordpress account, don’t worry about it, just e-mail me and I’ll include you (wiserthantheworld (at) gmail (dot) com). The contest will be open until Friday, October 26 – the feast of Thessaloniki’s own St. Demetrios the Great Martyr. So tell all your friends!
The Scent of Holiness is available for purchase on Conciliar Press’ website.

Please enter me in your drawing. I just viewed the trailer of your book and the photos are priceless and beautiful. What a blessing to share in your experiences. I traveled to Thessaloniki in 2006 and was able to briefly visit with the nuns of St John the Baptist. I completely understand and share in your enthusiasm for the monastics. May God bless you for your tireless work of bringing monasticism closer to the secular world.
I’m glad you liked the trailer, and thank you for your well wishes!
