My translation of the Greek text, edited for clarity.
In the year 1902, due to a lack of food, the elders of St. Pantelimon Monastery on Mt. Athos decided to assemble in order to see if they should stop their food bank charity as they had began to think they should.
They came together and after long discussion they decided to end their charity, since the food which they had was not even sufficient for the brotherhood.
Immediately after the discussion a photograph was taken in order to record this decision in the monastery’s history, since they decided to put an end to the great work of their charity.
However, the grace of the Panagia, the Virgin Mary, didn’t permit this to happen through miraculous means which we are all able to see in this photograph. We clearly see her sorrow at this decision, she is crying while standing above a small fire, which also did not exist physically.
So, how do we make sure to give alms even if we’re living in poverty, since no one wants to see their mother sad and crying?
